Implants

Similar to natural teeth, implants require daily maintenance. Although they are not subject to decay, they still are vulnerable to periodontal breakdown if the patient does not adhere to a strict routine of home oral hygiene. Annual x-rays and six month intervals between hygiene visits are highly recommended.

Implant Supported Crowns and Dentures

Dental implants are small biologically compatible metal root forms which are placed in the bone by an implant surgeon. Within 4-6 months, the body integrates the implant into the jaw bone, making it stable and safe to use as a support for artificial teeth, such as dentures or crowns.

Our office coordinates the referral appointment to a specialist who will determine if the patient is a candidate for the procedure. After it is completely integrated the implant dentist places abutment fittings over the implant. Our office is then able to take records to finalize the restorative phase of the treatment.

Implant Supported Crowns and Bridges

The single tooth implant is the most common form of restored implant. These are best suited for those patients who are missing one tooth or possibly three teeth in a row. These crowns and bridges are very similar to those constructed over natural teeth. We use the same top quality materials for implant crowns as we do for conventional crowns as we continue to provide the patient with a long lasting comfortable esthetic result.

Implant Supported Dentures

For patients who have problems with retention of their denture, implants are often the best option. A minimum of 2, but ideally 5-6 implants are placed in each “arch” and precision attachments are used to firmly connect the denture to the implants. Esthetics does not have to be compromised at all where implants are concerned no matter where they are located.
